The Miracle-working Kursk Root icon, under which St. Seraphim of Sarov was healed, and countless others, will be visiting us.  On Wednesday November 18/December 1 (this Wednesday), the icon will be at Saint Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church for a 6:30 p.m. Akathist. On Thursday morning, Divine Liturgy will be served in the presence of her at the monastery at 7 a.m.

Today we celebrated our first year as the Monastery of Saint Demetrios! We extend our most heartfelt thanks to all who have helped us along the way, and for your continued support. We are excited for what the Lord may have in store for our brotherhood in the future. Many years to all those bearing the name of the Great-Martyr Demetrios! May he intercede for and bless us all.

A catechumen/candidate in the monastery, Andrew, was baptized on 21 March. He is the first of hopefully many baptisms to come. Many years!

    A little lenten consolation arrived at the monastery yesterday. An icon, commissioned in Ukraine, of blessed Bp. Basil Rodzianko (uncanonized) arrived on 16 March, and is now in our monastery chapel. Through the prayers of Bp. Basil, Lord have mercy on us.
